I return to work in three days. Just three short days at home, with my baby girl. The thought of not being with her every day makes me feel a little sick and tightens my throat at the thought of us being separated.
It has been a dilemma over the past few weeks: where I devote my attention? I need to do some planning to ensure a smooth transition back to work and avoid unnecessary extra stress – but equally, I want to squeeze every last drop of joy from my time at home! Surely I can think about work planning later?
Unfortunately not. Things may have changed in my world – but work is still expecting the old me to pitch and deliver just as I always did before, from Day 1!
Sound familiar…?
It is such a challenge trying to work out what you need to do to still be on your game in the office, now you have different priorities. A challenge where there were no ready answers!
As my return-to-work date loomed during my first maternity leave, I was surprised to discover how little guidance was available to help me prepare mentally and physically for this huge change. I scoured the internet for a countdown guide or checklist but only found basic suggestions such as “be confident!”
I was left asking myself “but HOW? WHAT should I be doing to make myself feel more confident? I don’t know where to start!” The only book I found on the subject looked very detailed, but at over 400 pages long, it remains unread on my bookshelf.
So, I had to work it out for myself.
I took extensive notes about work/life balance, managing my stress levels and how to ensure I was still taken seriously as a professional career woman.
Help is at hand….
I’ve now turned those notes into the step-by-step guide that I wish I’d had access to the first time round.
It details the key actions that enabled me to walk into my office on day one feeling calm, confident and ready to rock it as a CareerMom.
Now I want to share this FREE resource with you. In my experience, following these steps will:
- reduce your stress levels,
- help you to enjoy the last days of maternity leave whilst getting excited about your work – and
- set you up for success when you walk back into the office!
